Whether you play Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, Shadowrun, or any other tabletop RPG, this tool replaces your physical dice with instant, fair digital rolls. Roll up to 20 dice at once, see each individual result, and track your full roll history.
This tool is fully optimized as a D&D dice roller. Whether you need a quick dungeon and dragon dice roller for your campaign, or a reliable dungeons and dragons dice roller for generating stats and calculating massive spell damage, our app has you covered. It handles complex ability score generation (like rolling 4d6 drop lowest) effortlessly. Plus, the extensive roll history ensures you never lose track of that critical hit during your session!
Some of the most impactful moments in tabletop RPGs involve unusual dice combinations — well beyond a single d20 attack roll. Here are common multi-die scenarios this tool handles directly:
10d6+40 and roll.The tool supports up to 50 dice in a single roll, combining multiple types and modifiers effortlessly (e.g. 2d8+1d6+5). For a full breakdown of when these combinations appear in play and how to calculate averages on the fly, see our D&D Dice Roll Combinations guide.
Need a quick 50/50 call? For tie-breakers or yes/no decisions, our Coin Flipper is the fastest option. For word games, try our Random Letter Generator to pick a random starting letter for Scattergories and similar games.
Each die roll uses crypto.getRandomValues() — the Web Crypto API — which draws entropy from your
operating system's hardware random number generator. This means each face of any die has an exactly equal
probability every roll, unlike physical dice which can develop wear-based bias over time. This tool is
actually fairer than rolling physical dice at the table.
Before the rise of standard d20 tabletop games, multi-sided dice were remarkably rare. The original 1974 edition of Dungeons & Dragons was one of the first games to popularize the full polyhedral set (d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, and d20), heavily influenced by wargaming and early educational materials that introduced platonic solids. Today, "rolling a natural 20" has become a cultural touchstone representing absolute success, while rolling a "nat 1" signifies a critical failure. Using our virtual dice roller ensures you never have to worry about losing your lucky d20 under the couch during a climactic campaign moment.
Many tabletop players are highly superstitious about their physical dice sets, often putting "misbehaving" dice in "dice jail" when they roll poorly. While fun, physical dice are often unbalanced. The manufacturing process, particularly the tumbling used to polish the dice, often rounds the corners unevenly and results in air bubbles inside the plastic. This causes certain numbers to appear more frequently. An online dice roller uses secure algorithms to guarantee perfect, unweighted randomness on every single roll, providing a mathematically fair outcome for your game mechanics.
A core mechanic in modern D&D (5th Edition) is the Advantage and Disadvantage system. When you roll with Advantage, you roll two d20s and take the highest result. With Disadvantage, you take the lowest. Statistically, rolling with Advantage adds roughly +5 to your average roll (changing the mean from 10.5 to 13.82) and drastically reduces the chance of rolling a 1 from 5% to just 0.25%. Our dice roller allows you to easily simulate this by setting the quantity to 2, letting you see both outcomes instantly before selecting the appropriate number.
crypto.getRandomValues(), giving every face
an exactly equal probability. It is fairer than physical dice, which can develop bias from
manufacturing imperfections or wear.
